Personal tracking and shared groups
Use a one-person group as a private ledger, then add shared groups for trips and housemates. Account stats roll both together.

A group is the unit of tracking
Everything in TmCount lives in a group. That is true even when you are the only person involved. A personal budget is a group with one member — you. A trip, a flat share, or a club is a group with several members. The same screens for expenses, categories, and stats work in both cases.
This design keeps one mental model. You do not switch between a “solo app” and a “split app.” You open the group that matches the money you are logging.

Starting with a personal ledger
Create a group, leave yourself as the only member, and log groceries, transit, subscriptions, and other everyday costs. Equal or custom splits do not matter here because there is nobody else to split with. Categories and monthly charts still work, so you can see where money went without a spreadsheet.
Your personal group stays private. Other people cannot see it unless you invite them. If you later want a friend to help track a shared hobby budget, you can invite them into that group, or you can keep personal spending separate and open a second group for the shared activity.

Shared groups for trips and housemates
When a cost is shared, create another group and add the people who should see it. You can add someone who already has a TmCount account, leave a placeholder for a person who has not signed up yet, or send an invite link. Placeholders keep balances honest before everyone has an account.
Shared groups record who paid, who owes a share, and suggested transfers to settle. That history belongs to the group. It does not rewrite your personal ledger. If you paid a restaurant bill on a trip, log it in the trip group. If you bought milk for your own kitchen, log it in your personal group.

Seeing both in account stats
Account stats combine activity across the groups you belong to, so you can see a monthly picture of personal and shared spend together. Filters and categories still apply. You are not forced to export two spreadsheets and add them by hand.
Archive a group when a trip is over if you want it off the main list. Archived groups remain available later, and duplicating a past trip is a way to reuse members and categories without retyping them.
